Renowned Czech-German jazz vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader. Martina Barta combines expressive vocal artistry with a commanding stage presence. Classically trained in French horn, piano, flute, and violin, she graduated from the Manhattan School of Music (MM23 Jazz Arts (Voice), mentored by Buster Williams and Theo Bleckmann) and the Jazz Institute Berlin (BM16, Prof. Judy Niemack, Prof. David Friedman).
Alongside her academic achievements, Martina has built a versatile stage career. In 2010, she won the czech TV casting show “Robin Hood – Cesta ke slávě” (TV Prima) and took on the lead female role of Lady Marianne in the musical Robin Hood, performed at the Kalich Musical Theatre in Prague. She began her career as soloist with the celebrated Felix Slováček Big Band, has collaborated with the Big Band der Deutschen Oper Berlin, Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and Orquestrina Baborak, and in 2017 represented the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. She has also represented the Czech Republic at the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, in 2025.
During her career, she has performed at renowned music festivals and concert venues, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center. Her duo with David Friedman produced the acclaimed album “You Taught My Heart To Sing” (Malletmuse Records, 2024). Known for her technical mastery, soulful improvisation, and deep musicality, Martina Barta delivers performances that are both exhilarating and unforgettable.
