​NYMC-NYCPA aims to provide the skills needed to read and write music notation as well as understand and analyze music, from the basics to the most advanced concepts.
A high level music theory training provides a deeper understanding of the process behind a composition through music reading, scales, intervals, keys, different musical components, etc. It is not possible to be a good pianist without a solid understanding of music theory!
