Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

​

These terms and conditions govern your use of services provided by New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center ("the School"). By enrolling in any program or service offered by New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions.

​

Enrollment and Payment

​

  1. Payment for tuition, fees, and any other charges must be made in full by the specified due dates. Failure to pay may result in the cancellation of enrollment or additional charges.

  2. Tuition rates and fees are subject to change without prior notice.

  3. Enrollment in classes, lessons, or programs offered by New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center is subject to availability and approval by the School.

  4. Enrollments are on a semester-semester basis and may only be withdrawn between semesters. ​

  5. NYCPA Semesters:   - FALL: September - January  - SPRING: February - June  - SUMMER: July - August

  6. Semester payments can be prorated depending on the student starting date.​

  7. There is no transfer of any portion of tuition from one month to another or semester to semester.  â€‹

  8. Extra lessons or extended lessons can be requested at any time and would be confirmed based on teachers's availability. 

  9. A $60.00 yearly registration fee will be charged to all students upon initial enrollment, as well as each following Fall semester. ​

  10. Agreed schedules are made by semesters. ​

  11. Tuition is accounted for the breaks shown on the New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center calendars of each semester.​

  12. Participation in New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center Activities such as concerts, recitals, competitions and other events is strongly encouraged but not required.  Extra fees may apply.

Semester Payments

​

  1. For semester payments, tuition is due in full upon enrollment and is non-refundable under any circumstance.​

  2. The tuition is pro-rated based on the start date.

  3. Agreed schedules are made by semesters and may only be withdrawn from between semesters. 

  4. The number of make-up lessons will be limited to 2 per semester. ​

Monthly Payments

​​

  1. The tuition is pro-rated based on start date.​

  2. Although monthly payments are available, the semesters must be paid in full, with no exceptions. ​

  3. For monthly payments, students are required to attend at least one lesson per week (4-5 lessons per month).​

  4. Payments are due on the 5th of each month. Payments made after the 5th will incur a $25 late fee which will automatically be applied to the following month’s invoice. ​

  5. Those who continuously miss their payments will be asked to pay the remaining semester fee in full.​

Makeup Lessons

In case of cancellation with more than 24 hours notice, a make-up lesson will be scheduled  within the semester at a time that is mutually convenient for teacher and student. 

The number of make-up lessons will be limited to 2 per semester. Students are required to provide a 30 day advanced notice for withdrawing piano lessons, including any long break. If a time slot is empty for more than 2 weeks in a row without prior notice, it will be released and offered to other students. The 30 day notice must be provided in writing via email.​

For Dance Group Classes: Missed classes are not eligible for refunds or make-up sessions unless the school cancels the class.

Attendance and Cancellations

  1. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes, lessons, or events at New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center. Any missed sessions will not be refunded or rescheduled unless otherwise specified by the School.

  2. Cancellations or rescheduling of classes or lessons must be approved by  New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center made within the semester. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the session and no refund.

Cancellation Policy â€‹

  1. Students are assigned a regular weekly time and expected to attend all planned lessons. ​

  2. ​​Any absence without 24 hours prior notice would be charged at the regular rate. ​

  3. ​ In case of cancellation with more than 24 hours notice, a make-up lesson will be scheduled.

  4. ​The number of make-up lessons will be limited to 2 per semester. 

  5. ​If a time slot is empty for more than 2 weeks in a row without any prior notice to the Academy, it will be released and offered to other students but the tuition would still be due. ​

  6. NYMC-NYCPA reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher when regular instructor is unavailable. We try to keep those situations to a minimum.​

  7. In case a lesson is cancelled due to teacher absence or academy closure, a credit or a make-up lesson will be provided. A refund of the lesson must be requested in writing.

  8. If a student cancels the lesson and needs to reschedule it, their regular teacher is subject to availability and never guaranteed. 

  9. ​Request for change of teacher must be approved by the director of the academy. The request must be submitted via email.

 

Code of Conduct

  1. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner at all times while on the premises of New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center or participating in School-related activities.

  2. Any behavior deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or disrespectful by students, families, or staff of New York Music Center / New York City Piano Academy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the program without refund. In the case of staff, such behavior may result in termination.

Liability

  1. New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury to persons or property that may occur on the premises of New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center or during School-related activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

  2. Students and their guardians are responsible for their own safety and well-being while participating in New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center activities.

Intellectual Property

  1. All materials, curriculum, and intellectual property provided by New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center are the exclusive property of New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center and may not be reproduced, distributed, or used for any purpose other than personal education without prior written consent.

Privacy

  1. New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center respects the privacy of its students and will not disclose personal information to third parties without consent, except as required by law or as necessary for the provision of services.

Governing Law

  1. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

  2. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be resolved exclusively by the courts of New York.

Changes to Terms and Conditions

  1. New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center's website or other notification to students.

By enrolling in any program or service offered by New York City Piano Academy / New York Music Center, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
