Mayumi Iwata was born in Japan. She started playing the piano with Prof. Mutsumi Iwasaki at the age of 7.

 

She was admitted to the Tokyo University of the Arts, where she studied with Prof. Seizo Azuma. Later, she entered the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (Poland), where she studied under the guidance of Bronislawa Kawalla. 

 

In 2014, she moved to Paris to study at the renowned École Normale de Musique "Alfred Cortôt" de Paris, where she studied with Prof. Guigla Katsarava. She obtained "Diplôme supérieur d'éxecution de piano à l'unanimité", "Diploma Superieur de Concertiste de piano" (the highest diploma of this institution) and "Diploma Superieur de musique de chambre "à l'unanimité avec les félicitations du jury».
 

She has received several awards, such as the 1st prize at the Concours Les Cles d'Or (France), the 3rd prize at the Concours International Leopold Bellanat (2018), 3rd prize at the Concours International de piano de Chatou "Cecile Edel-Latos" (2019) and participated the International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition, just to name a few.


She has given recitals in many festivals in Europe, such as the festival and venues such as "Musique de Besançon Franche-Comté", the festival for the 100th anniversary of L'Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris at the prestigious Salle Cortot, where she gave a concert for 2 pianos with Prof. Katsarava, L'eglise de Saint-Philipe du Roule in Paris, Taisetsu Crystal Hall in Asahikawa, Migishi Kotaro Museum of Art in Sapporo, just to name a few.
